Brief video I felt like taking of me talking about what I go through mentally while on my way to see an aggressive dog client in L.A. Although I've done this "walk" thousands of times before. I've never thought of capturing it on video for some reason? Hope you find it interesting To be effective in doing what I do, it really requires a certain state of mind. I need to get myself into this place mentally to remain safe and effective at handling severely aggressive dogs while at the same time explaining to their owners what I am doing. When training your dog in everyday life it is always important to keep the commands random. Dogs are masters of following patterns/anticipation and can sometimes get too ahead of themselves even within the command they are currently doing. This can give the illusion that a dog is focused and being "trained" yet they are already many steps ahead of what you are telling them to do. A dog can become overly reliant on the patterns as opposed to actually listening in an objective way. You always want your dog to "stay in the moment" and remain focused whenever working or training.
