Los Angeles Dog Trainer Driving to Visit Aggressive Dog

Brief video I felt like taking of me talking about what I go through mentally while on my way to see an aggressive dog client in L.A. Although I've done this "walk" thousands of times before. I've never thought of capturing it on video for some reason? Hope you find it interesting To be effective in doing what I do, it really requires a certain state of mind. I need to get myself into this place mentally to remain safe and effective at handling severely aggressive dogs while at the same time explaining to their owners what I am doing. Plus, do it in a wan that invokes security and confidence for both species during this highly stressful first encounter. This type of preparation comes with experience and expands far beyond any one specific technique or method that could be learned by reading a book. I will post a video of the actual session as soon as possible so you can see how it went! For more info on dog training & problem behavior solutions in the greater Los Angeles area and my blog with training tips. Please visit my website: dog trainingLA.com Thanks! Rottweiler Carry & Drop It

Booey the Rottweiler loves palm bark! Nothing makes him happier than walking around with his "prize" after a fun play session. No matter how much a dog loves a resource though they should always respect a solid "drop it" command as demonstrated by Mr. Boo! Some random commands with Rottweiler

When training your dog in everyday life it is always important to keep the commands random. Dogs are masters of following patterns/anticipation and can sometimes get too ahead of themselves even within the command they are currently doing. This can give the illusion that a dog is focused and being "trained" yet they are already many steps ahead of what you are telling them to do. A dog can become overly reliant on the patterns as opposed to actually listening in an objective way. You always want your dog to "stay in the moment" and remain focused whenever working or training. How to Teach Your Dog Swim

Commanding dog how to get in & out of vehicle

Teaching a dog how to "load up" in your vehicle is a great skill for them to learn. Creating a structured entry into a vehicle can also help relieve the buildup of anxiety related to car phobias, aggression, and other similar issues some dogs have while driving. Plus, it will save your back too! *You can also teach your dog how to "climb" a ramp or stairs in this way if they are too short or physically unable to jump on their own.
